Wow, well that was a blast! Indirock’s first climbing competition finals is a wrap!

With a sold out event, ten finalists and two gold winners, this was an evening to remember. It marked exactly one year since our soft launch, and was the perfect culmination of all the hard work, new friends and amazing climbing we’ve seen come into our life this past year. 

We were lucky to have four awesome routesetters throwing up spectacular blocs for these finals. After five months of anticipation building up to these finals, with one competition round a month over the five months, these blocs needed to be good! 

Jakub Stec, Jack Thomas, Steve Darling and Henry Hawk had a difficult task to pitch the difficulty for the eight routes – four each for the male and female categories. They took into account differences in abilities, height and climbing style to make sure there was enough difference in the final results. They pitched it perfectly! 

No-one could have predicted the results in the men’s category, with fifth seed Freddie Waters staying strong and swooping into silver position! Massive hats off to everyone who competed, and congratulations to our winners:

Also awarded prizes were the “most improved” climbers across all six categories which had entries: M/F adults, U18s and U13s, plus one lucky raffle winner! We hope that next year we might see participants entering across our non-binary and paraclimber categories too.
