With a long summer holidays stretching before us, we thought we’d ask our friends for suggestions of things to do with the kids this summer, which are either low cost or free. We quickly compiled this extensive list of amazing places to take the kids in Southend!
Little Adventurers
Our brand new neighbours in the Victoria Shopping Centre, Little Adventurers, is a pay-as-you-go playgroup for young kids. They’ve got fancy dress, roll play areas and run a range of sessions such as sensory play, kids crafting and much more. And to make things even better, if you attend Little Adventurers you get 10% off in the Indirock Coffee Shop next door!
ODEON Kids Screenings
Did you know that ODEON cinemas offer kids screenings for a very low price, and what’s more, adults pay the same price as kids? Check out ODEON Southend’s schedule for upcoming kids screenings.
Victoria Shopping Centre Kids Club
The Victoria Shopping Centre offer various kids activities each school holidays – this August there’s a dinosaur dig! It’s worth joining their Kids Club for free to keep up to date.
Sealife Centre & Adventure Island annual passes
For just £16 you can get 12 months’ unlimited access to Southend’s aquarium and mini zoo, Sealife Centre. £20 gets you unlimited access to Adventure Island’s soft play and five of their rides for little people! Find both passes here.
Seafront fountains
Many a happy hour can be spent running in and out of the fountains on the Southend seafront. With colourful lighting and seating painted by local artists, it’s a vibrant place to spend a sunny afternoon. And it’s FREE!
Warrior Square Skate Park
The skate park at Warrior Square in Southend is open to all and free to access. So why not dust off that old board and show the kids how cool you used to be!
Prittle Brook Greenway
Prittle Brook Greenway is a 5.7km bubbling stream with walking and cycle path, which takes you all the way from Hadleigh to Priory Park. Why not head out for a ride and pick blackberries along the way?
Southend Libraries reading challenge
Six libraries across Southend offer a summer reading challenge, which is free to take part in and children have the chance to win a medal!
Soft play & drop-off sessions at Indirock
And last but not least, of course there’s Indirock! We run soft play sessions twice a week for just £6, including access to one of our climbing walls, plus ball pit, slide, balance beams and more. For older kids (age 6-13) we run two hour instructor-led holiday drop-off sessions every weekday morning, leaving you free to get on with your day.
Indirock is the biggest bouldering wall in Essex, offering top quality indoor rock climbing for all ages. We also have a great coffee shop!
