NICAS Wild Climbers teaches climbing skills for ages 4-5, preparing young climbers for Foundation Level.
Access weekly Wild Climbers sessions AND unlimited climbing in your own time for just £45/month, by signing up to our NEW Wild Climbers Monthly Membership (a £20 saving on our Child Coaching Membership, which costs £65/month from age 6+). Once on this membership, you can sign up to every Wild Climbers session for free. Alternatively, try a one-off session for £15.
Our Wild Climbers programme is fun and game orientated, developing awareness of climbing movements, improving confidence and creating a grassroots pathway into additional climbing activities. It’s a programme that is designed to be inclusive and accessible for all.
NICAS Wild Climbers meets the 3 key learning areas of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) which is the precursor to Key Stage 1, and includes Communication, Physical Development and Social / Emotional Development.

NICAS is a UK-wide scheme for ages 6-17, designed to promote climbing development and work towards nationally recognised awards.
The scheme runs from Level 1 through to Level 5. Level 1 (Foundation) is the entry level for those new to the sport. Level 5 is for those at performance level, competing locally or nationally.
As a new NICAS centre, Indirock delivers levels 1 & 2 and will add courses for higher levels when our young climbers are ready.

Indirock’s Youth Squad meets bi-weekly for more advanced coaching, supporting young climbers towards goals beyond Southend and Indirock. We will organise trips to bouldering walls further afield. We will also build up to experiencing outdoor climbing and/or competing in youth competitions.
While our nationally accredited NICAS courses take young climbers through levels 1 & 2 of NICAS, Indirock’s Youth Squad will work through NICAS levels 3 and above. Following the NICAS syllabus has the potential to take climbers to elite level, and does not end at the age of 18.
Spaces on the squad are limited, but don’t worry! The best way to be selected for our Youth Squad is to join one of our NICAS courses, where our coaches can spot your talent.

Get ready to have a blast at our Junior Bouldering Club – included in our Child Coaching Membership. Perfect for young adventurers aged 6-12, this fun-filled session introduces kids to the exciting world of bouldering in a safe and supportive environment.
With our experienced instructor on hand, participants will develop confidence, strength, and problem-solving skills as they tackle climbing challenges suited to their level. Whether they’re first-time climbers or experienced monkeys, every session is packed with energy, encouragement, and plenty of high-fives!
This session is more laid back than our NICAS sessions and will not be working towards a climbing syllabus.
