This nationally recognised, one-day training is perfect for anyone looking to take their passion for climbing to the next level—by becoming a qualified bouldering instructor.
Whether you’re keen to work with groups in a climbing gym, school, or youth organisation, this course is your first step towards professional qualification under Mountain Training.

🧗 What the BWI Qualification Involves
This course is Stage 1 of the three-part process to become a qualified Bouldering Wall Instructor:
Attend a BWI Training Course – that’s this session!
Consolidate Your Learning – log at least 15 instructed sessions (including at least one at a different bouldering wall), spread over three months.
Complete an Assessment – to demonstrate your instructing competence and receive personalised feedback.
đź“ť Who Can Attend?
Before booking, make sure you meet the following prerequisites:
Be 16 years or older
Have at least 3 months of bouldering experience at a major wall
Have logged 15 bouldering sessions across at least 3 different walls
Be able to confidently climb at V2 grade or above
Be a current member of both the British Mountaineering Council and Mountain Training
Note: BMC and Mountain Training memberships are separate from the course fee.
